Global Recycling Day 2023 - The Story behind the Stargazer Collection

On Saturday it was Global Recycling Day, a day that aims to draw attention to the importance of recycling and to ask people to acknowledge the ways in which we can responsibly use the finite resources we have.

At Dower and Hall, recycling is at the heart of every design decision and the story behind our stargazer collection is a prime example of this in action.

The very first stargazer ring and earrings were bespoke designs created to repurpose inherited diamonds given to our customer who is one of five daughters, each who inherited a selection of diamonds from their mother’s necklace. As a result of all the diamonds varying in size and shape, they didn’t quite fit in our existing ring setting. So instead, we designed new settings to fit each individual diamond. This contemporary design allowed us to fully repurpose the diamonds into a 18ct recycled gold ring and earrings in a way that celebrates the past while respecting the future.

This fully bespoke design inspired our designer Dan to create a new collection of fine jewellery, titled Stargazer. All these designs are made with 18ct recycled gold and ethically sourced gemstones.
